With Bone & Joint we make it easy for you to appraise the latest orthopaedic research from around the world, giving you a broad and deep perspective on changing knowledge and practice. About The Bone & Joint Journal (formerly known as JBJS (Br))
The Bone & Joint Journal is published by The British Editorial Society of Bone & Joint Surgery. The Bone & Joint Journal (formerly known as JBJS (Br)) was first published in February 1948 and shared the title The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery with the American Volume. The two volumes are editorially and operationally independent, and JBJS (Br) is now known as The Bone & Joint Journal. If you are interested in a detailed history of JBJS (Br), listen to our podcast on the subject by Frank Horan. The Editorial Board are detailed here.
Authors must submit their article using our online submissions system OrthoDox. The guidelines for submission can be found here.
About Orthopaedic Proceedings
Orthopaedic Proceedings is a free supplement to The Bone & Joint Journal and publishes abstracts from major orthopaedic meetings around the world. Online access to Orthopaedic Proceedings is also free. Browse or search the contents here.
The Orthopaedic Proceedings will be undergoing a number of changes in 2012 to make the contents more attractive, including the addition of video of presentations from key international meetings.
About Bone & Joint Research
Bone & Joint Research is a new open access journal, launched in October 2011, that focuses on basic research in the musculoskeletal sciences. BJR publishes articles in all areas of musculoskeletal science such as bioengineering, regenerative medicine, stem cells, information, immunology, infection, cancer genetics, genomics, metabolomics, proteomics and clinical trials.
Open access is an innovative publishing model which means that all articles published in BJR will be available online, to anyone, anywhere in the world, completely free of charge.
Articles are submitted online to OrthoDox and reviewed with just the same care and attention as we offer to The Bone & Joint Journal articles. Once accepted, authors are asked to pay a processing charge (with waivers for those from low-income countries), to be paid by them, their funding body or institution. Articles are then prepared for publication and published online where they are freely available without requiring a subscription for access.
BJR will shortly be available on the National Library of Medicine’s PubMed Central site. We will then apply for full indexing in PubMed/MEDLINE. Once granted, this indexing will be retrospective for all published articles. BJR will also apply for indexing by Thomson Reuters ISI, so that it will have an Impact Factor after the minimum period of three years.
