Senior Marketing Executive

We are currently recruiting for an exciting new position to join our Marketing & Sales team to promote and sell the Society’s journal portfolio and educational services internationally.

The British Editorial Society of Bone & Joint Surgery (BESBJS) is a not-for-profit medical publisher specialising in orthopaedics, based in Grade II listed offices near Charing Cross. BESBJS publish the world-leading Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery (British Volume), as well as two recently launched journals, Bone & Joint Research (OA) and Bone & Joint³⁶⁰.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Marketing & Sales across the full portfolio of the Society’s scientific journals and educational services.

The person

The successful applicant will have solid experience within a marketing role in STM publishing, preferably within the journals and/or medical sectors. You will be proactive, enthusiastic and have excellent data and analytical skills. You will have experience with direct marketing as well as online and digital skills. In addition you will have excellent IT skills, including Excel, good copywriting skills and a commercially minded, results-focussed approach.

The Society

The British Editorial Society of Bone & Joint Surgery (BESBJS) is a not for profit academic publisher, with offices based in central London (Strand – grade II listed building). The Society was formed in 1953 with the central aim to advance and improve education in orthopaedic surgery and allied branches of surgery, which is still at the heart of the Society today.

BESBJS publish the world-leading Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery (British Volume), due to change its name to The Bone & Joint Journal in 2013. JBJS (Br) is one of the most valued sources of information for orthopaedic surgeons and researchers globally and has built a worldwide reputation for excellence since its inception in 1948. The Society has recently expanded its publishing portfolio to include a major new Open Access journal, Bone & Joint Research, focusing on basic research across the musculoskeletal sciences; and a new time-saving digest journal, Bone & Joint³⁶⁰, to help increasingly busy orthopaedic surgeons keep up with the global literature. Salary and benefits

Salary in the range of £27-30k, plus generous benefits including pension contribution and private health insurance, together with a very pleasant working environment in our offices close to Charing Cross with excellent transport connections
