Raymond Anakwe is an MB ChB graduate from the University of Edinburgh and undertook his basic and higher orthopaedic surgical training in Edinburgh. He is a serving medical officer in the Royal Army Medical Corps and is currently working as an upper limb fellow at Wrightington Hospital. He has a special interest in surgery of the hand, wrist and elbow and trauma care. Over the years, he has developed a particular interest in teaching and clinical research, publishing and presenting in his areas of interest. His training has given him opportunities to work and travel all over the world. He has been awarded Fellowships from the British Orthopaedic Association and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh to units in North America, South Africa, Germany as well as military duties in more exotic locations. He was awarded a Winston Churchill Fellowship in 2009. He is regularly involved in teaching medical students, postgraduates, general practitioners and allied health professionals. His sporting interests have recently been revived and include skiing and tennis although rugby may now be in more of a supporting role.
