Dr WY Cheung graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, the University of Hong Kong in 1995. He completed his orthopaedic specialist training in the University of Hong Kong in 2003 and international spine fellowship training in the Washington University, St. Louis, USA in 2008. He currently works as an attending spine surgeon in a tertiary spine centre in Hong Kong. He is also a council member of the Hong Kong Spine Chapter of the Hong Kong Orthopaedic Association and regional delegate of AOSpine East-Asia.
Dr Cheung has wide spectrum of clinical interests in spine surgery, including spinal deformities, spinal infections, degenerative spinal disorders and minimally invasive spinal procedures. He has also participated extensively in spine research, ranging from paediatric spinal disorders to adult degenerative spinal diseases. He published in various international journals, including European Spine Journal, International Orthoapedics, The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, and Spine.
